A Complaint Free World

It Only Begins In The Classroom – Character Education For Life

Are you a complainer?

*Do you gossip?

*Do you say things like “I wish it wasn’t so dark and dreary out today?”

*Do you ever say, “I am SO tired?”

If you can say yes to even one of these, then, like many people, you complain.

Have you ever tried to go just one day complaint free?  How about 21 days?  Does this sound like a daunting task?  Does it sound easy?

In my ongoing pursuit for ways to become a more positive individual, I came across this powerful life-changing program.

A Complaint Free World challenges you to look at yourself and become more aware of your thoughts, words, behaviours, and actions.

 The Goal:

*Obtain a Complaint Free bracelet from the site.

*Wear your purple bracelet on one wrist.

*Each time you catch yourself making a complaint, switch your bracelet to the other wrist and begin back at Day 1.

*Try to achieve 21 consecutive complaint free days (according to scientists, it takes 21 days to form a new habit).

*Notice a dramatic increase in your self-awareness.

*Notice amazing things happening in your life due to your newfound positivity!

Who’s Involved?

This is the amazing part…EVERYONE!  This program is well-suited for children and adults alike!  Just imagine if children were able to work on becoming complaint free during their youth and reap the benefits.  I sure wish my teacher had taught me this!

My School-Wide Experience With A Complaint Free World

I was already somewhat familiar with the concept when I came across A Complaint Free World.  I had taken a self-development course all about manifesting your dreams and desires.  One of our tasks was to wear a piece of string around our wrist and switch it back and forth when we complained.  So, when I saw an entire website and program devoted to this idea, I was excited!

When I implemented this program school-wide, I began with the staff.  At one of our staff meetings I played a game with the faculty which involved holding up cards that said either Fact or Complaint.  I read out statements to my staff (other teachers, teaching assistants and administration) and had them decide as a group whether or not the statement was a fact or a complaint.  This generated so much great discussion about what we really consider to be positive and/or negative.  From this game, I challenged the staff to take part in the 21 day Complaint Free World program.  I encouraged staff members to sign their classes up to be part of this movement, as it is much easier to accomplish with a community of supporters.  Most staff, administrators and students came on board and were quickly shifted into a new way of thinking.

Just think of the positive atmosphere that can so quickly eliminate the common negativity within a workplace.

I encourage you, readers, to not only implement this program into your schools and classrooms but to also make it a part of your own lives.  The best way to teach a behaviour, is to model it yourself.  Also, order extra bracelets and encourage family members to take part; this involvement will work to further support the success of all participants.
